Whether or not this legend have any basis in fact, tea has played a significant role in Asian culture for centuries as a staple beverage, a curative, and a symbol of status. Is perhaps not surprising that its discovery is ascribed to religious or royal origins.
For this reason, Chinatown Film Festival is promoting a new event, on May 10th, to coincide with Asian Heritage Month 2008: "3:15, a Tea Tasting Event ", a stylized cultural and educational “Tea Tasting” event.
3:15, a Tea Tasting Event
To further that end, the Chinatown Film Festival will bring a stylized “Tea Tasting” to New York on May 10, 2008 from 3:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M.
In partnership with Chung Wah Chinese Broadcasting, Co., Chinatown Film Festival will host “3:15, a Tea Tasting Event” to be held at CWCB’s studio in New York City’s Chinatown (384-386 Broadway, 2nd Floor, New York).
A number of different teas to be brewed and sampled. A tea historian will explain the history, importance and different brewing methods of each tea.

The Chinatown Film Festival , a not for profit organization, seeks to bring a major international film festival to New York City’s Chinatown.
Chinatown Film Festival believes that all New York’s Chinatown areas would be well served by being “re-branded” as a major cultural bridge between Asia and the West. In keeping with its “not for profit” mission, Chinatown Film Festival will revitalize all the Chinatowns of New York by bringing businesses, visitors and revenues using the power of film, dance, music, art, photography, theater and fashion. Chinatown Film Festival envisions a future wherein Manhattan’s Chinatown, as well as Flushing and Brooklyn’s 8th Ave., join in and take part of exciting and amazing multi-cultural events which, in the past, have left Chinatown out, creating that cultural bridge that ca really unite two different cultures.
